Mr Otto Steinmetz


Otto Steinmetz served as Chief Risk Manager on the Board of Managing Directors of Dresdner Bank AG (member of the Allianz Group) in Frankfurt for five years until May 2008. During his tenure he reported additionally directly to the CEO of Allianz SE on environmental issues and directed the group´s CO2 reduction efforts. After his retirement he ran a corporate entity within the German Deposit Insurance Scheme of the Association of German Private Banks as a Managing Director dealing with the issues resulting from the Lehman Brothers insolvency. To date he works as a consultant in the food industry and serves on the Board of Directors of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

Before joining Dresdner Bank AG he spent more than 30 years with Deutsche Bank AG, where he held various positions in Mannheim, Düsseldorf, New York and Frankfurt. In 1978, after four years as personal assistant to Board Member Alfred Herrhausen, he moved to European American Banks in New York as a corporate banker assisting German enterprises investing in the United States. Five years later he was appointed Head of Corporate Banking International at Deutsche Bank’s New York Branch. At the end of 1987 Otto Steinmetz returned to Frankfurt as a Senior Risk Manager in Deutsche Bank Head Office. He became the group’s Chief Credit Officer in 1992 and a member of the group’s Executive Management in 1996.

In 2000 he left Deutsche Bank to work as an international business consultant advising mostly international Private Equity firms looking to invest into Germany.

Mr. Steinmetz acquired a degree in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) from the University of Mannheim in 1970 and a Master degree in Gastrosophy at the University of Salzburg  in 2014.
