The Prince Albert II Foundation receives the Sophie Rochas Foundation’s top prize
On 22nd June 2017, Mrs Sophie Rochas announced the official launch of her Foundation dedicated to innovation in the environmental, cultural and health sectors. On this occasion a “Sophie Rochas” rose bush, planted in the Princess Grace rose gardens was unveiled and then blessed by the Archbishop of Monaco.
To honour the innovative environmental policy implemented by the Prince Albert II Foundation over the last ten years, Mrs Sophie Rochas presented the Sovereign Prince with the Sophie Rochas Foundation’s top prize of 5,000 Euros.Read more
An agreement signed between the Foundation and CNRS
On the occasion of a visit by HSH Prince Albert II to the Observatoire Océanologique in Villefranche-sur-Mer on 21st June 2017, an agreement was signed between the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and CNRS, acting both in its own name and on behalf of the Observatoire Océanologique of Villefranche-sur-Mer. The purpose of the agreement is the provision of funding by the Foundation with a view to implementing a project to put into place six Bioargo PH floats: BGC-Argo-pH.Read more
A visit to the vultures in the Mercantour
On Monday 19th June, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco travelled to the Mercantour, to observe a baby vulture which hatched a few months ago in the cliff hollows on the slopes of the Col de la Bonette. The Sovereign was able to see the young vulture on the rim of its nest, where one of its parents was bringing it food. The newly installed parents consist of a female called Bellemotte which was released into the Vercors in 2012 and a male which has not yet been given a name.Read more
Launch of the Flowers for Bees campaign-19/06/2017
On 19th June 2017 the campaign entitled “Flowers for Bees” (Fleurs pour les Abeilles) was launched by the Observatoire Français d’Apidologie. Established in the Var, amid the Sainte Baume Mountains, the observatory promotes the restocking of bees and aims to strengthen pollination in order to maintain agricultural production.Read more
Visit to Pelagos Sanctuary
On 17th June 2017, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco visited the Pelagos Sanctuary in the company of Giuseppe Notarbartolo di Sciara, a scientist, marine environment specialist and president of the Tethys research institute. He was one of the major instigators behind the creation of the Pelagos Sanctuary. The visit took place as part of the shooting of Danielle Ryan's documentary entitled "The Map to Paradise" focused on the emergence of the marine protected areas movement and the protection of the seabed. Danielle Ryan questioned the Sovereign on the reasons for his commitment to the marine environment and the strong relationship he has with the sea.Read more
HSH Prince Albert II at Conference of Montreal
On 14th June 2017, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco attended the 23rd edition of the Conference of Montreal organised by the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA), the theme of which was "A new world: managing change".
The International Economic Forum of the Americas was created with a view to promoting the exchange of ideas and perspectives concerning key economic issues between the most influential leaders of the world. The Sovereign attends the Berlin Formula E race
On 10th June 2017, HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco travelled to Berlin to attend the Formula E race, an event he has supported with his Foundation since it was first introduced. On this occasion, a conference on clean mobility, “Future of Mobility” was organised.Read more
New Vulture release in Corsica
Children from Niolu School christened them Ercu and Luna. Two young vultures aged just three months old were released on 3rd June 2017 into the Corsican mountains of Niolu Valley. One of the birds of prey comes from Andalusia and the other from the Czech Republic. A similar event took place last year when a pair of vultures were released in the same spot.Read more
The Monte Carlo Bay makes a commitment alongside the Foundation with Mr Goodfish
After the Vistamar at the Hotel Hermitage and the Thermes Marins Monte Carlo, a new hotel belonging to the Monte Carlo Société des Bains de Mer Group, the Monte Carlo Bay, is making a commitment alongside the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation to promote responsible consumption of seafood products, with the Blu Bay restaurant now a partner of the Mr Goodfish programme.
On 2nd June 2017, Michelin starred chef Marcel Ravin from the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel chose to join the Mr Goodfish programme. H.E. Bernard Fautrier, Vice President of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and Mr Frédéric Darnet, Director of the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel, have consequently signed a partnership agreement with Mr Goodfish.Read more
